Huurre delivers world-class energy efficiency to Kesko’s logistics centre

Huurre has revamped the refrigeration system at Kesko’s retail logistics centre in Hakkila, Vantaa using its uniquely powerful, energy-efficient and eco-friendly solution.

The Huurre ECO system installed in the Hakkila premises is the most powerful transcritical CO2 refrigeration system in the Nordic countries. The combined power of the two Huurre refrigeration units is 1,500 kW. The units use carbon dioxide as a refrigerant, as it is the only non-toxic and non-flammable natural refrigerant that complies with the new legislation restricting greenhouse gases.

By using the market-leading Huurre iTOP Refrigeration Automation solution, Kesko can ensure that its refrigeration plant operates in the most energy-efficient manner possible and minimises the lifecycle costs. The system delivered by Huurre also includes a very efficient heat recovery feature which further reduces energy consumption.

Huurre ECO CO2 chiller with iTOP control to Testebo ice rink

Huurre has installed a Huurre ECO CO2 chiller for Testebo ice and curling rink in Gävle. Especially outstanding in Testebo’s set-up is the flooded evaporator system and the smart iTOP solution. Also the heat recovery is utilized to its maximum for space and utility water heating as well as for dehumidification.

Ice rink is controlled by state-of-the-art iTOP refrigeration automation

The unique controller is called Huurre iTOP PLC. This high technology controller comes with programs designed to regulate and control the operations at the ice rink.  The ice rink operator can select the desired use of the ice rink and adjust the ice temperature and refrigeration system accordingly. iTOP follows the instructions and selects the appropriate temperature for e.g. ice hockey or figure skating while ensuring that the refrigeration system works as energy-efficiently as possible.

In addition to the regulation and control functions, Huurre installed surveillance solutions in the Testebo ice rink so that all faults can be analysed remotely.
