Huurre Group Oy and the leading expert in CO2-based retail refrigeration systems in Europe, Enex S.r.l., have created a joint venture called Huurre ECO Oy. Huurre will be Huurre ECO's main shareholder, and the new company will have access to Enex's extensive knowledge of CO2-systems.
Sergio Girotto, managing director of Enex, has been one of the pioneers in the development of CO2-based systems, and his company Enex has many years experience in CO2 installations. Even prior to the joint venture, Huurre and Enex have already collaborated in pilot projects in Finland. Huurre Group will also have a minority share in Enex together with the majority share in Huurre ECO.
Huurre ECO will focus on customers in Huurre's current areas of operations in Northern, Eastern Europe and UK and it will offer its customers consulting and design services in the more ecological refrigeration facilities of the future. Huurre organisation will also install and service the CO2-plants.
Huurre has already supplied the first CO2 system in Finland for K-Market Seilori in Espoo. Furthermore, installation of the first booster transcritical system in Finland has been completed for K-Supermarket Peltola in Järvenpää. Huurre has also supplied a CO2 system for S-Market Söderkulla.
Huurre Group has a strong view of how environmentally friendly CO2 systems will grow more popular as refrigeration solutions with grocery retailers and warehouses since CO2 refrigerant has no impact on the greenhouse effect. Compared to CO2 refrigerant, the green house impact of the HFC-based refrigerants (R404A) currently in use is 3800 times higher if released to the atmosphere.
